About Us

Who We Are

We are a passionate team who have successfully Cold Capped after battling breast cancer, wanting to assist others to keep their hair while undergoing chemo treatments. Serving Erie St. Clair (Windsor, Chatham, Sarnia) and the Detroit Metropolitan area.

What is Cold Capping?

Cold capping is a technique used during chemotherapy to reduce or prevent hair loss in cancer patients. It involves wearing extremely cold gel-filled, helmet-like caps that contour to the entire scalp before, during, and after chemotherapy sessions.

How it Works

The cold temperature of the cap constricts the blood vessels beneath the skin of the scalp, preventing the chemotherapy medicine from reaching the hair follicles, therefore allowing the patient to preserve their hair. This process is referred to as vasoconstriction. The cold also slows down the hair follicle metabolism, making the hair cells dormant or less active, further preventing the absorption of chemotherapeutic drugs. During chemotherapy treatment, the patient wears the cap for:

  • 1 hour prior to treatment
  • Throughout the entire infusion
  • 4 hours post treatment
